So here it goes...

About a year ago, I came across the real name, quite by accident, of the woman that the movie is supposed to be based on. So, I called her. She admitted that yes the movie was based on a true story, but that there were some parts of the movie that were embellished. She asked me a lot of questions about myself, and she was taken aback that I had her name.

Now, this part is a little confusing. As we started to talk she denied that the movie was really based on her. In fact she told me that the movie was really based on someone else that she was protecting. She said that the woman was still in hiding and that she did not want to discuss the actual case. The conversation ended on that note....without any info. In fact, I felt as though I had been the one interviewed. (smh) She never gave me any clue where this could have taken place or the name of the person that she was protecting. I am not sure whether to believe that or not, it could be true, but let me say that the woman, whose name I found, looks a lot like the Joanna Kerns character. In fact, the woman is still gorgeous! She has the same pretty blonde hair that is cut in the cutest style ever. She definitely has the Joanna Kerns look...very dainty and classy. She is not a young woman by any means. So, perhaps she is protecting maybe a daughter, or a family member, or someone that she knows through her work. If the case is indeed about her, it is something that had to have happened a long time ago.

I will continue to look for concrete info on the real story. If there are any news articles about this case, I will be sure to post them. Just not with the new name. It looks like the person may have moved a couple of times. So the name could have been changed in literally any state. Also, the woman has started a very successful business. So she is doing just fine. Anyway, don't want to give out too much info just in case the man is still alive.

On another note, someone suggested that it could have been based on the Jay Alan Roach case. Jay Alan Roach was video taped talking about having his wife Lorraine Roach murdered. Lorraine Roach, he said, had been having an affair with another police officer, and that she was not letting him see their 3 children. But, that case happened the same year that this movie came out which was in 1999...so I doubt that was the case. Usually a movie is written at least 1-2 years before it comes out if not longer.

Well, I told you that there was not much info, but maybe that gives you a little insight into the movie.I will keep looking until I find something written about the actual case.

Jay Alan Roach Case aka Jay Allan Roach

I don't believe that this is the basis for the movie just because this case happened the same year that this movie came out. But, this case is similar to the movie so here are a few links if you want to read up on Jay Alan Roach and Lorraine Roach case. MSNBC did a segment on the case and showed the video of Jay Alan Roach.
